The Right to Vote | SLJ

Today I am doing the summer leaning journey. I got asked to imagine our New Zealander government decides to make new $10 bank note an replace Kate Sheppard with a picture of a different New Zealand women. For this activity I would pick Whina Cooper. Because she worked many years to fight for her people. Also to improve a lot of Maori Women.

  1. Great proposal Charlize...do you think you could put a DLO together so I could see your design? Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep your learning up over the school break!

  2. Kia Ora Charlize,

I have noticed that you have created a blog post of the Summer Learning JOurney's, The Right to Vote. I have also done this activity on my blog. What is Whina Cooper mostly known for? What other woman would you pick aside from Whina?

    Great Work!

  3. Hi Charlize! Whina Cooper would be a great choice, and seems like an inspiration to many. You've made a really good point of improving a lot of Maori Women. I'd love to see a picture or DLO go with this activity, it would look a lot more intriguing! Well done on this activity, keep it up!

  4. Morena Charlize! Olive here - I’m back! How are you doing today?

Thank you for your post! I think Whina Cooper is a great choice! Ka pai! You’ve picked a very strong, empowering Māori woman! Whina Cooper is an inspiration to all New Zealand women. However for full points you need to provide a picture of Whina Cooper and a few more sentences to explain why she would be a suitable replacement for Kate Sheppard. Please can you edit your post to include these things? Comment below to let us know you’ve edited your post! Can’t wait to see what else you get up to!

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Ngā mihi,
    Olive

  5. Hello Charlize!,
Whina Cooper sound like a great person to replace Kate Sheppard. Whina Cooper definitely is a good choice, because she fought for her people. I would love to see more information about Whina Cooper and a picture, so we know how she looks. Did you find this activity difficult?

    Well Done!
