Tennis | Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn how to play a 2v2 game on tennis.

This week we had played 2v2 for tennis. On one side of the net there were the champions and on the other side was the challengers. The ball gets served to the challengers first. The challengers only have 1 chance but the champions has 2. If the ball hits the net, doesn't go over the net, bounces 2 times, or gets out of the square then those people are out but if it was the champions they have another chance. At the end of the session the champions from each side of the court had competed against one another. It was Sione & Makaili vs Andrew and Hosea. The first duo to two points wins. There was a good rally but unfortunately Hosea and Andrew had lost with Sione and Makaili won.

LI: To learn how to do a rally.

For the warm up we had a tennis ball that was placed in the middle of the tennis net. Once the ball hit either one side of the floor we could start playing.
A rally is when you hit the ball with the tennis racket and you can't let the ball hit the floor.

Kiwi Sport | Swimming

This week for swimming we wore life jackets to help us float in the water, And how it will feel when we are wearing one in the water. We Learnt the help acronym which means heat, escape, lessening and position. We first had to swim back and forth. Then made a chain by holding one another shoulder opener. The person at the end had to direct us and the rest had to kick to make us move.

Next we got into small groups and we had to huddle each other this helps us keep warm. If someone is drowning its easier to keep them in the middle. We also had to dive underwater with our jackets on. It was challenging because life jackets mostly keep you up.

The week for swimming we first started of with our safe entry. We we got into the pool we first went through learning how to float on our back if we couldn't  to that then we would have to use the board. Then we practise our stream lines starting with our hands up high and behind our ears then do little kicks in the water.

Next we all got a board each and made waves like as we swim in the ocean with big waves and in a current. Everybody go a turn each.

Swimming | Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn how to swim.
In Livy's group they first did their safe entire. Then they did their signalling for help. Which is to float on their back or with a noodle. They also had to call for help when they have their hand straight up. Next they learnt how to reach and rescues.

For this they had a partner and a water noodle. One partner was in the water and pretended to drown. So then it was the right time for the other partner to throw the noodle at then and try to save them, at the same time they have to try and pull the person into the water.

For the horizontal rotations they did stream lines. then the swam with face looking straight up with boths hands on the swimming board. Then they did their horizontal to vertical rotation. They had to dive and pick the toys from off the ground. And played shark attack.

Kiwi Sport | Gymnastics

Today LS1 group B had their gymnastics session for kiwi sport. We first started off with playing infinity tag. When you get tagged the person that tagged you,  you have to sit down and when they get tagged you stand up and they sit.  The type of stretches we did was the L shape, Seal, Butterfly, cat, straddle, back front side support. We also did two new stretches. We do these kind of stretches because it loosens up our mussels.

Rotation 1:
Our first rotation included the beam, blue line on the stage, On the beam we had to leap onto the beam. On the blue line we had to do the knew stretch. And Finlay on the bench we had to do a forward roll.

Rotation 2:
On the second rotation there was a trampoline to jump. Then we had to do a backwards roll on the soft ramp or the floor. With our hands by our head loooking like we are holding 2 pizza in our hand. After that we had to do a routine. And lastly there was another trampoline that we had to jump on it and do a spin.

Rotation 3:
On our last rotation we had to do a handstand on the wall with a bar on the floor. Then we had to do the back/side/front rotation on a shape. before the parallel bars is when you have to life yourself up onto the bars.

I found the stretches difficult because when you stretch it hurts.

LI: To Learn Counters and come backs after somebody has throwed a punch.

Today for kiwi sport we learnt defences. But first we played a warm up call stuck in the mud. We had 4 taggers with noddles if you get tag then you have to be still like a starfish. To be unfree someone has to go under your legs to be free. The first taggers where Kaitlyn,Fau,Leroy,Oscar.
The first drill we did was guard, cross,Left hook,Cross. Guard is in rock potion and then bring your hands up to your head. Cross is left hand punch and then left hook is when you have to get loaded on your left side. Our next combo was bridge. Bridge was slide back slide forward jab, cross, left hook.

Kiwi Sport | Boxing

The 3 commandments are Respect,Discipline,Safety. We had to repeat after Pax our coach " I will have respect for myself, my coach, my peers and the sport of boxing" and for the discipline " I will have the discipline to turn up to every boxing session and give my 100% for safety " I will not cause harm to others and only practise boxing in a safe environment under the guidance of a coach.

This week for kiwi sport we learnt a new combo. We first got into partners mine was Farzana. We played paper, scissors, rock to see which partner goes first to put the glove on. We had 30 seconds to help our other partner put there glove on.

When were finished we had to get on the line and finally learnt our combo. Our fist combo was (jab, jab, cross) And the other partner has two noddles and the partner with the gloves on has to aim for the noddles. We had a couple of try's to get people used to it.

Then for our other combo we did (jab, cross, left hook, cross). It was a little bit hard for me and my partner because i had to do the noddles and my partner has to remember the pattern.

Then for the last combo we did (jab, cross,Left hook,Right hook,Left uppercut,Right uppercut) For the potion we had to always remember is the rock. Is when our feet is on the train tracks and our hands are underneath our eyes and we have to be stable too.

Then after that wegot into our plank potion and we had to high five our partner 20x. After that we all had fun.

Then we did the same but had to try and touch the other persons shoulders. Then we got straight into putting our gloves on. When we were finshed putting our gloves one we still had our partners and we had to try and line up facing each other. We got taught a rock position was when we had our legs a little bit bigger than shoulder with apart then our right leg gose back. becuase we had to try and stay still like a rock.

This week for kiwi sport LS1 year 5 went to the YMCA swimming center. We first got into the pool and then we had to use the board and one group had to face the other on the oppasite. We had to make BIG waves for the one person to swim through when it got to my turn it was really hard to swim on top of the water so i decided to swim underneth the water so it was more easy for me. Then we had to swim with the current. Then we went to the other pool and we had to make a circle and hold hands and then we had to run to make a swirl pool.
