Kiwi Sport | Swimming

This week for swimming we wore life jackets to help us float in the water, And how it will feel when we are wearing one in the water. We Learnt the help acronym which means heat, escape, lessening and position. We first had to swim back and forth. Then made a chain by holding one another shoulder opener. The person at the end had to direct us and the rest had to kick to make us move.

Next we got into small groups and we had to huddle each other this helps us keep warm. If someone is drowning its easier to keep them in the middle. We also had to dive underwater with our jackets on. It was challenging because life jackets mostly keep you up.

Kiwi sport | Swimming

The week for swimming we first started of with our safe entry. We we got into the pool we first went through learning how to float on our back if we couldn't  to that then we would have to use the board. Then we practise our stream lines starting with our hands up high and behind our ears then do little kicks in the water.

Next we all got a board each and made waves like as we swim in the ocean with big waves and in a current. Everybody go a turn each.

swimming | Kiwi sport

This week for kiwi sport LS1 year 5 went to the YMCA swimming center. We first got into the pool and then we had to use the board and one group had to face the other on the oppasite. We had to make BIG waves for the one person to swim through when it got to my turn it was really hard to swim on top of the water so i decided to swim underneth the water so it was more easy for me. Then we had to swim with the current. Then we went to the other pool and we had to make a circle and hold hands and then we had to run to make a swirl pool.

Swimming Skills

This week we went to the YMCA swimming.
We first got straight into our group Kailiy,James, And the other 2 girls.

First skill was we had to float on our back using the noddel feet first. We did the feet first so when we hit the rock we can bounce back. Then after that we started to kick on our back all the way to the other plat form on the other side half way. After that skills we did Feet first sculling with the noodle. For this skill we had to not touch the ground and for scalling we had to rock our arms backwards and forwards. Our thumbs should go up and down

Then for the next skill we had to dive and get the ring. Kailiy throw the ring into the water and we had to dive down and try and get that ring. Then we did the Seated dive practice. For this skill we had to go to the deep end and try and dive while sitting down. Then at the end we could do any swimming all the way to the plat form and for the other round we can still do any swimming but roll on our back. And at the end we all had fun for the end of our swimming.

Swimming/Kiwi Sport

Today for kiwi sport we did swimming. Before we got to our class we talked about our safety water when we are in danger. James told us some stories and instructions we need to follow. Then after he told us stories and dangers we should not do we got straight into our class and did our lessons for the past 3 weeks. We started with our scaling. Our fingers have to be together and our thumbs has to be a part from our fingers. Then you have to swing your arms back and forward and the thumbs has to go up and down fast. And what your body has to do is your on your back and you have to look straight up and also push your belly up so if the water is deep you can stay up. if you want to get up you look to your feet and then you start going down slowly.

Swimming

LI: To be safe in the water. First we started doing stair entry witch was when you have to get into the pool by using the ladder to get in we have to get in backwards so if its deep you can pull yourself back up. The next skill we did was slide entry is when you have to put both hands on one side and slide into the pool with your hands still on the wall. Then after that, was us using a board to do this skill called float board, is when you have a board and you look down kicking in the water with out makeing splashes. Then last we did float bord switching is when you swim looking down and then switch on your back.

Swimming

LI: To be safe underwater. Today for kiwi sport we learnt how to be safe underwater. We got split into 3 groups. The skills our group did was dolphin dive witch is when you have to dive under water and get a toy from beneth. Stepping into water is when you have your arms by your side and you have to be shaped just like a pencil. Underwater swimming is swimming with your face looking at the ground and just swim across to the other template. safe entry was at the start of getting in the water, this skill was about getting into a pool or a beach. Hands by your side and when you enter the water twist your body and if the water is to deep you know that your hands are still on the wall and you can get back up.
