This year 2019 / 2020 our summer learning journey topic is change makers. Today i got asked to identify someone in our life that has been a role model to us. I have chosen my teachers Mr Wong and Ogilvie. My teachers feed back was to never let an opportunity pass you by. Always grasp what comes your way with both hands. It may never come around again and then you'll never know what might have been. Its not always about succeeding it's more about trying.  Also to See and experience as much of the world (not just NZ) as you can while you're young. Meet as many people from around the world and learn their different perspectives as you can. You, your whanau, your teina, and mokopuna will benefit from the wisdom you gain.

Celebrating Diversity / SLJ / W2

Today I got asked to research and learn about many different global communicants. We had to pick two articles to learn about. I had picked Australian Aboriginal People and The Inuit People.  Did you know Aboriginal Australians could be the oldest population of humans living outside of Africa. There are four Inuit regions in Canada, collectively known as Inuit Nunangat.  Inuit Nunanga includes land, water, and ice.

This year the summer learning journey topic is changemakers. Today I got asked to write a short review of a book. That had to include what the book was about and what we liked about it. I picked the book "The Secret Country" it had lots of amazing information about it.

The Right to an Education | SLJ | W2

LI: To write anything we would like to talk about.
This years topic is change-makers. Today I got asked to write anything I would like to talk about and I picked netball. The reason why I picked netball is because it is my favourite sport and because we went undefeated. I talked about our netball team and what we do every week.

Today I am doing the summer leaning journey. I got asked to imagine our New Zealander government decides to make new $10 bank note an replace Kate Sheppard with a picture of a different New Zealand women. For this activity I would pick Whina Cooper. Because she worked many years to fight for her people. Also to improve a lot of Maori Women.

Climate Change | SLJ | School Strike for Climate

LI: To read an article and write three things you have learnt about.
Today I have completed an activity for week 2 of the summer learning journey. This activity asked me to read an article about Greta Thunberg. In 2018 she stated protesting instead of her going to school she inspired school strike for climate. I also had to take a photo of me helping climate change.

Nelson Mandela's Journal | SLJ | W2

Today is the Summer Learning journey W2 I am doing. I got asked to imagine I was nelson Mandela and wrote a journal of what I do each day. I first started of with day 1. I made it more descriptive by adding what they eat for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Dear Jacinda | SLJ | W2

This week I got asked to write a letter to our New Zealander prime minister Jacinda Ardern. It had to include a issue i could choose. I chose Measles. The reason why i picked Measles is because it is a very contagious virus that spreads. It is a very big issue.

Taking the Lead | SLJ | W2

This week i got asked to write 5 things I like to do and pictures of me doing them. I picked netball because it is my favourite sport and i enjoy to play. I also picked rugby, Swimming, eating food and hanging out with my family.

Against the odds | SLJ

Today I got asked to list 3 main things i keep treasured to myself, that are important and why.

Family:
The reason i picked my family is because when i'm going through rough times they are always there to cheer me up and help me. I will always have them in my heart. Another reason why I picked family is because i have alot of cousins, aunties and uncles. Its better to have these type of people in my life.

Pacific rim production:
Pacific rim production is a Pacific islander group. I have been in for a year. We have two main people in this production which is the CEO and the coordinator but sometimes we call them auntie and uncle because they are a second family to us. This production takes place in Glen Ines. The kids learn different types of cultural dancing and perform local. 


Family Reunion:
They reason why I treasured family reunion because it is a very important time for me. I get to meet my new cousins aunties and uncles. I have a very big family so it is about time I should meet my cousins. I get to learn new facts about them.

This week I have finished commenting on Afatia's blog post about all her work she had blogged about the summer learning journey. She had put alot of effort into the work witch mad me want to comment.

Today for my last activity of day four I got asked to make a brouchure.  For this brouchure we had to create a travel brouchure to any pacific island. I chose Niue because its my home town. I used canva as my brouchure.

Whats in a name?

This week I got asked to think of a name that I could change my own name, if I became famous. I thought of the name Elena The reason why i picked this name is because its a Spanish name.

Making a Racket

I had learnt that long time ago wimblendon became the last "Grand slam to grant" Women equal prize money.

The second fact I had learnt is in 2005, Venus Williams won wimblendon in what was the longest womeans final in history.

The last fact I had learnt was Serena made $84M less than one of a professional tennis player named Roger Federer.


This week I got asked to watch a video about two sister Vemus and Serena Williams that are American tennis players. After that I had to write on my blogpost three things that I have learnt off the video and one thing I would like to know.

Dream Job | SLJ | doctor

Today for my last activity of day 3 I had to ask a family member or a friend what they would be when they grow up or there dream job. I asked my friend Farzana. Her response was to be a doctor. I had to write six things I could do to support her with this job.

Today for my second activity of day 3 I got asked to think of five questions, I would like to asked Steven Adams (A famous basketball player). He is a New Zealander basket ball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball association.

I would have the power to know every thing. Witch means the power of smartness
I would have the power of time travel because if someone had done something bad in the past like Adolf Hiter I could change that bad thing.
I would have telepathy because if someone is going through bad stuff I can help them.

Today is the 3rd day of the summer learning journey activity. I got asked to write on my blog post three super powers I would have and the reason why. I picked the power to everything, time travel and telekinesis

This week I got asked to write a poem. I decided to write a Acrostic poem. On My blog, I had to write a short poem describing how I felt. I used the word MOON for my Acrostic poem.

Jean Earhart And Amelia Earhart Venn Diagram | SLJ | 4 Points

I have completed Day 2 Week 1 activity. Today's activity I got asked to share the comparison and differences between Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. They were both solo flights and flew around the world. I had to use a Venn Diagram. The Summer Learning Journey is a site that most kids use to help them learn. Once they finished learning they do activity to try to earn up to get points. Once they get points they get awarded with big prizes.

Setting Sail | Food | SLJ | 4 points

For this activity i got asked to make a list of ten food items I would take with me for the sea. I have to think really hard about why food items I would pick. The ten food items i picked was cereal, Fresh water, Dried fruit, Meat, Sausages, Tuna, Spaghetti, Baked beans, Watermelon and Cantaloupe.

The reason why I picked cereal is because every morning you would need to start of with a heavy breakfast. I picked fresh water Because its the only healthy liquid to drink on a hot day. I picked dried fruit because its can last for a long week.

I also picked meat because it fills you up more and can last for a long time. I picked spaghetti because its a can food witch makes it easier to eat. I picked watermelon because it has 92 percent of water. I also picked canteloup because it had 90 percent of water.
