Writing | Narrative

LI: To write a hook for our narratives.

This week for writing we were writing our hooks for our narratives. A hook draws the readers attention and creates questions to be answered during the story. We had the option of stating the hook with an onomatopoeia (sound) or we could start from the end of the story and then jump back in the beginning.

Character and setting description

LI: To identify parts of a narrative.

This week for writing we are identifying our knowledge on character and setting description. Each group got to decide on a character to pick then we could vote. Our group got chosen and we decided on doing a character named Iaerell. Each group had chosen a setting.

Writing | Recount

This week our task was to write a recount with the topic of winning a sport I then picked Netball. After we finished writing our recount we had to mark 7 different areas. Ideas, S&L, Organization, Vocab, Spelling, Punctuation and Sentence Structure. From 3-5.

Lotto Recount | Writing

LI: To revise the structure of a recount and
We are now identifying our knowledge on our recount skills. In a recount there has to included a structure (TREE). We are now practising how to write a recount for our test. This recount is all relating to winning the loto.

After that we had to mark our recount using the 7 marking skills. We had to rate our marking 3-5. Ideas, Structure and language, Organisation, Vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure. My total mark was 28. 

Advertising

LI: To create an advert using knowledge and skills we have learnt.

This week for writing we had to make an ad. Our product that we had to advertise was a thneed from the Lorax. We used our knowledge of what other advertisments have and applied them on ours. We had to make this advertisment in a group. In my group there was Bella, Farzana, Alayah & Angelica. We chose to use rhymes for the advertisment because Dr. Suess makes rhymes.

LI: To learn about television advertising.

This week for writing we were looking at different types of advertising. We had to find 3 celebrities from New Zealand and wrote what the advertise. The famous people i found was Stan walker, Julian Dennison and Jacinda Ardern. Then we looked at another ad about teenagers choosing the right car. We had to answer 5 different questions.  

Advertising | Slogans | Food hacks

LI: To learn about persuasive tools and advertising.
This week we were looking at more advertisements and slogans. We first looked at characters and people found in the most effective adds on cereal boxes. Then as working as a group of four we wrote down a bunch of examples of people and what they advertise. And our point of views.

Then as a group again we had to write down slogans from each categorise on the slide. Last we had to make up a slogan to advertise the school or anything to do with the school.

CRAAP stands for Currency, relevancy, Authority, purpose. This week we learnt what all of these words meant. We all had a persuasive text about a topic. My groups topic was called "Change our uniforms" We had to do a synthesis and a QAR that had bunch of questions.

Advertising | Writing

LI: To analyse the print advert.
This week we are learning the types of tools used in a advert. To learn these tools every body got amount of words and we had to find the definition in a group. My group did slogans, Language features, catchphrase and product.

Persuasive speech plan | Anxiety

Rhetorical questions are questions that make a dramatic affect.  This week we had to write a persuasive speech about a topic we had to talk about.  The topic I used was Anxiety and also we needed to make a arguement. My arguement was: have you ever felt like you have anxiety and want to let it go?

LI: To write a narrative as a form of a play.

This week we are working on a narrative a form as a play for the past few weeks. This narrative play is about a lady who steals christmas from christvillie. In this play we had to add dialogue to make it look like they are talking to each other.  A narrative is a made up story.

An orientation has describe the settings and the who. This week we are doing the play christmas stolen for Mr Wongs reading groups to perform. We have started on our secound storyboard that links up with the first.

Our play is about mother christmas and she is trying to steal christmas. my group made a dialog about the narrative we made we made fake messages of our characters talking to each other. They are talking about how they can come up with a solution to solve the problem.

LI: To use key vocab to unlock sentence & text structure. This week, our task was to write an explanation of how and why LS1 Learns, Creates and Shares. We also had to write a procedure including instructions step by step how LS1 learns, create and share. An explanation tells how and/or why something happens. A procedure is a text explaining how to do something. We had to do this in pairs.

We had to write an explanation about how to make chocolate. An explanation writing is how it works or why something happened. We had two explanations about the same story. We also had to make three DLO about how it is made.

 LI: What is a cause & effect?.
A cause and effect are in a explanation. A explanation is what something is and how it works. Today for writing we had to make a goggle slide with ten causes and effects on it and casual language between.

Today for writing we are learning about explanation. We had to create two posters, One about the definitions of explanation, Information report, and Procedure. The secound poster was about explaining what present tense, possive voice, third person and time connectives is.
