Kiwi can | Respect

This week we talked about respect communication. Respect communication has different meanings. Using emotions and Body languages. Our first activity had to include a partner called maths hands. Once we had a partner one hand had to be behind our back. Then we had to either pick random numbers from our hand. Then try to add de numbers.

Manaiaklani Film festival

This week a whole bunch of schools got to participate in the manaiaklani film festival. I We have watched Saint Patrick's school, Tamaki college and our own. Many classes have made their own film to entertain other people. My favourite film was Tamaki college's film.

Basic fact boxes

LI:  To remember basic maths facts.

This week I have completed this activity. It took me three minutes and thirty-four seconds to do half of the challenge. I have gotten one wrong. This activity is really basic click here to challenge yourself and see how you have improve Task challenge

Maths |Planes

LI: to use statistical and scientific methods to study the effect of wing span and area on lift.
We had to make 12 planes of the same plane but we have had to change one variable. A variable is a feature of an object that can change between different versions of the object. For example: some variables in chairs could be height, width, depth, weight, materials, strength, colour. An independent variable is unchanged by other variables. These are usually controlled in experiments to see if they make changes in other variables. We had to decide which independent variable to change to measure the dependent variable. We had to create a spreadsheet to record variables and results. We also had to create planes with measured variations in your chosen independent variable

Demand & supply

LI: What is supply and demand

This week we learnt what supply and demand is. We played a business game in groups of 3 to understand more about supply, demand, price, income and stock. To play the game, we are given a product and that product is what we are selling. My group got pies.

We started with a balance of 50 dollars and decided how many pies we were going to make to start the business. 1 pie cost 4 dollars to make. Once we made the pies we had to do the maths and find out how many dollars it cost in total to make all the pies.

We had to figure out which price we wanted to sell the pies from 2, 5 or 10 dollars. If we chose 2 dollars we had to role a 20 sided dice to see how many people would buy the product. A 5 would be a 12 sided dice and a 10 would be a 6 sided dice. Then we added up the money. Example: We sold 10 pies for 2 dollars and 11 people bought it. 2x11 is 22. 22 plus the current amount of money is our balance. This continued for two rounds.

kiwi sport | tennis

LI: To learn how to do a rally.

For the warm up we had a tennis ball that was placed in the middle of the tennis net. Once the ball hit either one side of the floor we could start playing.
A rally is when you hit the ball with the tennis racket and you can't let the ball hit the floor.
