Sailing

On Tuesday 30th April, 18 lucky students from LS1 went down to Okahu bay to take part in the Volvo have a go. we were sponsored by a company yachting New Zealand and Rotary. It was a fine sunny day as the waves were decent.

Our three sailing instructors were Steve, JR and Justin. Justin showed us how to put the boat together before we could do it ourselves in partners. We had to get into partners because the boat has to jobs. One person controlled the sail and the other controlls the rudder. We sailed from ASC to Mechanic bay.

After lunch we went back onto the water with our boat and partner and played more activity's. Our instructors Steve and JR were tossing the toys in the water while we were trying to grab them. I think it was really enjoyable because I got to see people capsizing.

We would like to give a big thank you to Rotary, The instructors , Miss daf, Mr Wong and Mr Ogilvie. It was a great experience learning how to sail.
