Tennis | Kiwi Sport
LI: To learn how to play a 2v2 game on tennis.
This week we had played 2v2 for tennis. On one side of the net there were the champions and on the other side was the challengers. The ball gets served to the challengers first. The challengers only have 1 chance but the champions has 2. If the ball hits the net, doesn't go over the net, bounces 2 times, or gets out of the square then those people are out but if it was the champions they have another chance. At the end of the session the champions from each side of the court had competed against one another. It was Sione & Makaili vs Andrew and Hosea. The first duo to two points wins. There was a good rally but unfortunately Hosea and Andrew had lost with Sione and Makaili won.

Maths |Planes
LI: to use statistical and scientific methods to study the effect of wing span and area on lift.
We had to make 12 planes of the same plane but we have had to change one variable. A variable is a feature of an object that can change between different versions of the object. For example: some variables in chairs could be height, width, depth, weight, materials, strength, colour. An independent variable is unchanged by other variables. These are usually controlled in experiments to see if they make changes in other variables. We had to decide which independent variable to change to measure the dependent variable. We had to create a spreadsheet to record variables and results. We also had to create planes with measured variations in your chosen independent variable

Demand & supply
LI: What is supply and demand
This week we learnt what supply and demand is. We played a business game in groups of 3 to understand more about supply, demand, price, income and stock. To play the game, we are given a product and that product is what we are selling. My group got pies.
We started with a balance of 50 dollars and decided how many pies we were going to make to start the business. 1 pie cost 4 dollars to make. Once we made the pies we had to do the maths and find out how many dollars it cost in total to make all the pies.
We had to figure out which price we wanted to sell the pies from 2, 5 or 10 dollars. If we chose 2 dollars we had to role a 20 sided dice to see how many people would buy the product. A 5 would be a 12 sided dice and a 10 would be a 6 sided dice. Then we added up the money. Example: We sold 10 pies for 2 dollars and 11 people bought it. 2x11 is 22. 22 plus the current amount of money is our balance. This continued for two rounds.
