This week I have complteed a maths activity (Extras). In this activity you have to answer the questions.

SSR Selfie

This week I have done a reading activity called SSR selfie. To use this you have to read a book for 15 minutes and then summarise it. There are a bunch of questions for you to answer. I have read Lemony snicket book.


Haiku poem


LI: To write a poem about feelings.
This week for inquiry we have been writing poems about feelings. There are 4 different poems: Haiku, Diamonte, Limerick & cinquain. I have learnt how to write a haiku poem and chosen Haiku. My emotion was Scary.

Recount Edit

LI: to edit and improve a piece of writing. This week for writing we had to write a recount about either three options, A recount about a Kiwi Can Lesson, A Ki O Rahi lesson, or a Music lesson with Whea Ode. We had to get a partner and they had to try make our recount better. We get points for how many changes we had made and we get more points for additional changes. If we have more points than our partner than we win and the loser needs to write 2 more recounts about the other two recount options that we had not done. My partner was Mote. Mote's Points:

  • 1 point for every change (8)
  • 4 points for adjectives
  • -20 if there is under 10 changes




Music

This week for music we have learnt more new songs. We played C, G, F and Am.
We used xylophone, Chime bars and others. This we have started on duets.

Summary | Current Events


LI: to unlock Keywords to summarise a text
This week for reading on my template it was about Wellingtons beaches smoke free. In a group of four we had to read an article that include: 5 W's and H. And answer the questions. We used five articles: Nz Hearld, Kiwi Kids News, Radio NZ & Stuff.  

For our summary it was just like last weeks one. We had to find the keywords in a book. And type it down underneth the page that the keywords were in. And then make a summary of the book. I had 30 words in mine. 

Statistics

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics.
This week we were learning what statistics is. Its about gathering information to answer questions. We used statistics. My questions is: Where is the most popular place to sit in PBS? By answering this question we need to find out where the most popular place to sit is by using a map. We used a map and on the map we put zones. 


Kiwi Can

LI: To learn what friendship is.
This week for kiwi can our new kiwi can leader is Mr H. Our new topic is relationship. We learnt what relationship means. It means we can have a friend that we can rely on or count on. We learnt what this is by playing a game called secret cards.

We got into small groups. With cards like a scenario. There were ballons on each side of the room saying good and bad. On the cards they could be saying " Someone was keeping a secret for a birthday party" It would got under the good.

SSR Selfie

LI: To Summarise a book.
Today i have completed my SSR Selfie. For SSr Selfie i first had to read a book for 15 minutes. My book is called pasific myths. It was a Non-fiction book about real information and facts. 

Basic Fact boxes

This week i have learnt how to use my times tables and divided bys. I answered questions on a google sheet.

Messed up recount.


LI: To identify different recounts.
This week for writing we had make a punctuation poster of punctuations we used in a recount. We had a goggle drawing with a messed up recount that we had to do in our writing groups. And then we had to take a paragraph from the messed up recount and add interesting words in it. Including adjectives, adverbs and others.

Kiwi sport

This week for kiwi sport we were applying our learning for Ki O rahi. The first team I was in was Kioma team. Kioma gets the pints by runing around and hitting the po in with the Ki in Te Ao. And scoring the try in paweo.

The taniwha get points by hitting the tupu while the kaitiaki is trying to guard the tupu. If the kaitiaki catches the ki they can pass it to there team mates.


 

Rhyme & Poem




LI: To identify purpose of poems. We learned about Poetry. Poetry is a type of literature people use to express their feelings, or for entertainment. We also learned that there are two types of patterns in poems. Rhythm and Rhyme. Rhyme is repeated sounds. Rhythm is like music, its how its said.

Cricket

On Wednesday our yr 5-8 cricket team went to Collins Maiden park to play Cricket. I learnt how to boul, pitch and field. We played against Stone fields, Tamaki primary, Pt England And Stan hope yr 7 and 8s. Stone fields had 2 teams that we had to play against I was in the yr 7 and 8s team with the 5 and 6.

Our first game we first played against Stone fields, we won. Our second game we played against Tamaki primary yr 7 and 8 and happily won. Our third game we played against Stone fields team 2 girls and won again.

Our Fourth game was Stan hope and we also won. And our last game was against Pt England which was the strong team and think they came first for the whole cricket games and sadly Lost

Keywords - Holi – the colourful festival

LI: to look for keywords and phrases 
This week for reading we were learning about keywords and phrase. Keywords are words that unlock the meaning of a sentence or the tittle. Our work we had to do was us working on a goggle doc with a article from kiwi kids. We had to highlight the keywords in our story that we found. We had to think about the 5 W's. After that we had to answer these questions What, Where, When, Who, Why. And now summarise the article.

Place Value



LI: To shift between place value using multiplication.
This week we have learnt how to use place values. We had to write down single digit number, two digit number and 3 digit. We used a goggle sheet instead of a goggle doc. Mr Wong wrote down an example and we had to do another one as a group and then individual.

LI: To summarise and retail a text.
Today I read the book Matilda for 15 minutes. Its about a little girl who loves reading and loves going to the libery every day. But at the end she got adopted. 

Basic Fact Boxes

Today i have complted half of my basic facts boxes. i have pratice my 9 time tables and divided bys. This activity is Maths. 

Kiwi Sport | Ki o rahi

LI: To learn the game Ki o rahi
This week for kiwi sport we played the game ki o rahi based on the story of Rahi. The 2 teams are Taniwha and keoma. Keoma gets points by runing and hiting the pou and scoring the try in the paweo. And Taniwha gets points by hiting the tupu while the Kaitiaki is guiding it. We first start ki o rahi with kicking the ball.

Jacinda Ardern | Reading


 LI: To apply the different strategy we use as readers. 
This week for reading we had to create a slide about a New Zealander. We had to chose from: Political, Musician, Scientist, Sport, Drama, Business. Our group got Political so we chose Jacinda Ardern the New Zealand prime minister. I enjoyed creating this DLO.

Inquiry

This week for inquiry we went to the hall and we went to play all the game that we had to make and then when we got there we had to start the game and we went to play it the first game that we play was a team my team did egg and spoon for that we had to use them but not make it like that game we had to use them and we had to make it and we had to talk about the game if you the egg went off the spoon you were out and you had to wait till the game was over and the last team standing win the game and then we went to the next game.

Maths


LI: to count groups of 10 and 100 in large numbers.
Today Mr Wongs maths group learnt about place values. We first made a copy of a document with large numbers for an example 765947. We have to find out what the number 10+, 10-, 100+, 100- is. We had to write number on a white board and say how much tens there are and how much hundreds there are.

Emotions poster


LI: To create a list.
This week for writing we got into groups to make a list of what ever word we got if it was either Verbs, Emotions, Adverbs, Adjectives, Male & Female, Said. one person in each group had to pick between these words. When they have they had to make a list of those words that they could think of. After that all the other groups that did the same they had to make one big group and then make a DLO. 

Safety lessons with Constable Cyrus | Abuse

Today LS1 Inquiry groups had Safety lessons with Constable Cyrus ( Police). He came to teach us about different type of abuse. There are 7 types of abuse. 

Abuses 
  1. Cyber abuse
  2. sexual abuse
  3. not abuse
  4. emotional abuse
  5. family violence 
  6. neglect 
  7. physical abuse. 
Cyber abuse means when someone that's online showes inappropriate photos. 
Sexual abuse is when someone touches inappropriate body parts. 
Not abuse is when you get punished. 
Emotional abuse is when someone hurts your feelings. 
Family violence is when one of your family member tries to hurt you.
Neglect means when know one cares about you any more.
Physical abuse is when someone punch you. 



Cybersmart


LI: To write a blog post on a template.

This week for cybersmart we used a blogging template to help people write a blog post. In a blog post there should be a DLO, Title, Labels & blurb. In a blurb it includes How you learned, what tools did you use to learned, what did you learned & LI.

Music

LI: To learn the notes and chords.
Today LS1 group B went to room 8 to learn more chords and notes. More people got a chance to have a turn on the piano (free time) While other people got a piece of paper with a ukulele and learning songs. They could only go outside if the know all of the notes. 

Kiwi Can | Postive relationships | Co-operation.

LI:
Today for kiwi can our topic is co-operations and our theme is positive relationships. We can use Co-operation in school.  Co-operation is working together to archive something. Or to get something done. 

Energiser:

Our first energiser was called opposite. Miss Mack said commandments and we had to do the opposite of those commandments. For an example if she said look down we had to look up. But first we had a practise round. If she said hands up we had to put our hands down. 


Activity: 

For our activity we played command and conquer. We were in groups of 5-6 and there were 4 groups in each corner. and the groups name was called group 1 - 2. one person went to Mrs mack. They got an instruction and went back to there group. Shared there instruction ad there had to to it as a team.

Reading Strategies











LI: To identify the different strategies we use as readers .

This week for reading Mr Ogilvies reading groups have been looking at all of the different reading strategies .But then we got into our reading groups and then we chose a reading strategy to do and we had to make a poster on what this strategy and and how we can use this Strategy . But at first we played a game of GKQ ( General Knowledge Question ) and whoever got the question right got to pick a reading strategy to do . The strategy's that my group chose were Activating Prior Knowledge and Self Monitoring . So basically how this order worked was some people in our group would all do the same people and the other people would all make the other poster together .

Basic Fact boxes



This week I did my basic fact boxes. We had to complete this activity under 20s on one row. Here is an example of mine. We did this for our maths and this is also a maths subject activity that we use for our number bonds. I did time divided bys & Time tables that will be good for me. 

Kiwi Sport | Keoma Role

LI: To learn the kioma role
This week for kiwi sport we were learning the kioma role. We first started the game off with the kicker.The kicker kicks to the Kaitiaki. Every body got a turn of being the kicker and the Kaitiaki. If the ball roles its the taniwha's ball.

After that we played golden child. We started off with a kicker. The Kaitiaki that played first was on the kioma team same for the kicker.

Sentence Starter


LI: To make a short sentence better.

In Mr Ogilvie writing group we had made a DLO about making a short sentence into a better sentence. On my DLO we would use this sentence in a paragraph. This sentence should include: Adjectives, When, How, Where & Why

How to tell the time


LI: To teach people how to tell the time.

This week we had to make a poster of how to teach people the time. We first had a session of learning analog time. We had a few activity's to earn points for our group. Then we had to go off and teach people the time on a goggle drawing. We have to explain the hour hand and the minute hand.

Music

LI: To learn the chords and notes.

Wednesday afternoon LS1 group B went to room 8 to learn more chords and notes. 3 people got chosen to get there head phones and have free time to play on them. And others learnt the song. After that people got chosen to have a go on the ukulele. The chords i still need to work on is G.

Kiwican | Positive Communication | Positive Relationships | Praise

LI: To praise other people.

We were talking about Praise, Praise means to encourage other people or congratulate them.

Energiser:

For our energiser it was called Ro-pa-si tag. Which was a shorter way for rock paper scissors. We had to find a partner. You and your partner has to play rock paper scissors who ever losers has to turn around touch the group and try and tag your partner. While your partner that won has to run away before they have to turn. 

Activity:
Our next activity was called kick ball. We got split up into 2 groups. One group was defender and the other group was attacker. 

How to write a blog post


Writing a succinat blurb is inportant to tell people what we leaned. What we need in a blog post blurb is what you learned, How you learned it & what did you use to learn it.  In a blog post there should be Tittle, Labels, Blurb & DLO.

Written text | Types of touches


LI: To make a poster about types of touch.
This week for inquiry we had to create a poster about types of touch. We had to included a title, slogan, and information about the three types of touches. We got the choice of making a written text, graphic and labels, QR code to a vacaroo recording. Our group decided to do written text, Our slogan is: " Touches are part of life" . My group and I enjoyed making this poster.
