Typing

This week for our daily 6 i worked on my typing so in the future i can be way better. If you want to see this daily six you would want to be on our LS1 site here or if you want to go straight on the game. This sit is really helpfull for me.

Daily 6

Today for LS1's Daily 6 i did the Additions and subtractions. If you want to see more about LS1's Daily 6 you can meet us on here Daily 6. What you first need is 2 polyhedral dice, a maths book and pen/pencil. You first need to roll your dice and then what ever it comes up with you add them up useing your additions and subtractions. 

Inquiry

This week for inquiry we were talking about pedestrian crossing , Traffic lights,Roundabouts. We needed to talk about who invented them and witch country had built them or who had first. We got into three goups and there was three vides for us to watch and find our answers from. Each of us had to pick witch video to talk about and to do the presentation. I was talking about Traffic Lights. I found all of the information and put together. We didn't only watch a video and find our inforamtion for there. We used websites to read more about. Because the words that was in the article wasn't part spoken in the video. for this type of work i worked with Fau and Kaitlyn.

Area

LI: to calculate areas of composite shapes using times tables. This week we are using our 3's and 4's time tables. We first talk to Mr Wong about our work and our work was a piece of grid paper. Here is what i did on my DLO. I count the width and height on the piece of paper. I used a hightliter to shade.

Persuasive Structure and Language features

This week we are learning Persuasive writing. 
Also this week we learnt what O.R.E.O is (Opinion,Reasons and Explanation,Opinion). The language features for O.R.E.O is Simple present (infinitive) tense, Emotive words/devices,Cause and effect words.

We had to finish a google doc. We first had to highlight the Simple present (infinitive) tense, Emotive words/devices,Cause and effect words. We hightlight Simple present (infinitive) tense red. Then hightlight Emotive words/devices.

And when we finshed that we had to copy and paste the sections into the paragraph. and when we were done we all came to the mat and found the answers.

Swimming

We first got into our life jakets and straight into our groups. 
Our first lesson was the pencil dive but it was a little bit differnt with a lifejaket on. How to do the pencil dive is one arm holding on to where your your arm comes out. Next we had to put the other arm to cover our nose so when you jump off the water dosent go thought your nose. A coldshock makes your mouth open too.

Then after that we had to make a chain. How to make a chain is first you hve to lie back onto your back. Next Hold the back of the jacket of the person in front of you. Then Kick to the side but dont kick the person in front. Then after we had to hundle togerther so when some one is very cold then you move them in the middel and staytogerther. How to do the hunddel is to wrap the arms under arms of the person next to you. Then make sure your legs are down.

For the help potions you have to bundle up like the bomb potion.

Commenitng

Today i had to write a SMART comment on angelica's blog post. Here is her blog post if you want to see more about her Angelica's blog post. In a smart comment there is a greting Hello angelica then after that is a connetion i have stopped on your blog to see what we have been doing for maths then after that is the questions can you go back to your blog post and check your spelling mistakes and then after that is the farewell good job and keep it up. 

Izanagi And Izanami.

 This week Mr Wongs reading groups get 4 choices one was Izanagi And Izanami secound was cuchulainn third was Mahishasura And Durg last was Lac Long Quan. I picked Izanagi And Izanami. Izanagi And Izanami is a japan story. In my DLO there is Questions a video and a story a little bit about them. You can find this story on our LS1 site

Kiwi can

Today for kiwi can our new topic is problem solving. First we got strainght into our game called emergency for this game there was hopes on the groun and 2  long lines. How you play this game is that  the 2 lines are next to each other but not to close. And the people in front of the lines has to jump into the hoops same for the other group. For an example group 1 has to get to the other side to group 2. Then we sat back down after that game and we talked about us being shy. We had a couple of choices for an example who thinks there shy beacuase the people your going to tell thinks you might be dumb. The after that we got into our game the game was called mat dodge for this game we had to get into a circle. Then Mr Matt counts us 1,2,3,4 i was 2. This game also includes a ball. When he calles the groups names then that whole group gose into the circle and the people outside has to try and get them out. But at the end we all had fun!

Art






This whole day LS1 made a shodow art. In the secound block the colours we used was either hot colours wich is red,pink,yellow,orenge,brown the sesson for the hot colour was autumn. and the secount colour was the winter sesson that colour envoled blue,green and dark blue It could also mean night and ice. 

First block wich was in the morning. was that we had to find a city the city i did was the new york city right over here. Then we had to outline it we coult use polyline or the shapes the fastest way was the shapes. I used the shapes. 

Next we were in the secound block. we were finshed outlineing the citys next was the back round. For my back round we can use our own thing. Here is mine in one of the photos. Mr wong showed us some photos about the clouds and the shape. 

Then in the last block we were just finshing  off our work for today.

Netball

Yesterday PBS netball went to the ASB stadium on court 3. We faced St curvs. The score was 14-7 to us for the last game of this season. We tryed really really hard to in this game. There were 3 potions Atack,Center,Defense. The center is loud in all 3 corts but not in the circle.







Maths

Today for maths we had to measure the area. we mesured alot of areas, some where hard. We measure the width and the length of a rectangle. We named them A and B to find out what the area is.

Dancing Mat

Today I did a game called Dancing Mat. You can find this game on our LS1 site. There is somthing called home keys. The home keys are the main keys on the keyboard. we have to leave our fingers on the home keys. There are differnt levels so you can start with the first level number one. the leves go up to level 7.

procedural text.

LI: to write a procedural text. This week for writing we did procedural text. procedural text is like step by step for an example how to make a cake first get the mix secound pour your eggs next pour the sugar. Mr Wongs writing group had to do a procedural writing. We had to re-do mr O's maths groups Shaps using toothpicks and Blu-Tack.


Different types of Foundation

This week for inquiry we learnt about the differnt types of foundation. The types are slab footing,Pier footing,wall,Column footing and Cassen. We first watched 2 videos about the foundations. One of the foundations was about what the types were and a little bit abou them. Then the 2nd video was about the shapes.

Table Conga

 
Today I did table conga. Table conga is a maths game in here you can learn how to count in 7's. You control the little red guy. And you try and count in 7's without the grey x's try and get you. This game is found on this site the LS1 site called Table conga on our daily 6.    

Kiwi Sport

Yesterday We went to learn more about snag golf. We go tought 3 things 1 was perpendicular, 2nd was tik tok like a cloack, and I forgot the 3rd one. But first Mr WOng showed us on what we had to do. First we got into 3 groups my group was Fau and Sione A. What our thumbs have to do is if your a right handed then you put your hole thumb on the yellow dotted line and the oppasite on the red. Then we put the tenis ball on the tea and focas on where we are going we have to try and get the lowest score the yellow is when you have to say SNAG loud the blue is 3 that is the water and red is 5.

Mahishasura And Durga

 LI: to identify the purpose of narratives. LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairytales. This week for reading mr wongs ready groups get the choice to pick 4 myth stoies. The stroy i did was Mahishasura and durga. There is all the informtion in this DLO you need to find out.

Kiwi Can

Today for kiwi can our new topic is problem solve. First  we got staright into our engiser called human knot. We got into 7 groups and then we sarted to go into a circle. Then we raised our right hand an placed it to the person facing to us. then we placed our left hand and gave it to a differnt person. And then we had to unknot everybody. Then we played another game called matt dodge. This game is when you have to get into a cirlcle we got named numbers 1,2,3,4,5. I was number 3. And what ever number mrs Lili says 1,2,3,4,5 then that big group gose in the circle and we try and dodge the ball the people in the ball.

Skytower

Today LS1 went on a trip to the skytower to learn about it. We first learnt about how tall it is, When was it built, And others. We also got told about the famous people who has jumped off the Auckland skytower we were all suprised about who jumped off our skytower. We learnt about the Moari names for some of the mountains near the auckland skytower. We went through 4 places around the skytower. First we went to the room nex to the gift shop. Then we went on the elevator to go upstaries to see building and mountains and what they were called. After that we took the stairs to go down to a emergency room. The emergency room is when there is a fire. the walls the door and the ground is fire proof so the fire can not harm us. There is 3 emergency rooms. Facts about the emergency rooms: In all 3 rooms you can fit 103 people, There is a scrren at the top of the door to tell you to close the door it is really loud to hear so people know, There is a mid kit,snacks,water in each room. You have to stay in there till it is clear. people at the skytower is trained to help other people in one of the 3 rooms.

Table conga

This game is a maths game called table conga. In this game you count in 7's. This game is found on the LS1 site. You controll the little red person using the arow keys. When you try and count in 7's you have to watch out for the x's becuase if the are in your circles you have to start all over again intill you have done your counting in 7's.

Commening

LI: To write a smart comment.Today I had to comment on Chris's blog post he blogged about his Reading. In a smart comment you should have greeting-hello (there name)  connetion- I have also done the same as you, quetion- did you lern somthing  about your maths before you did this work, fare well-good job-nice work. We had to comment on LS1 people. Other people can comment  on other people. This comment is a smart comment. There is differnt kind of comment that other people use.

Keybording drills

 Today i did daily six keybording drills. Keybording drills game is a game for practing our typeing. First you lay your hands on the home keys the home keys are a,s,d,f,g,h,j,k,l we place our left hand on a,s,d,f and our right hand on j,k,l,;,'. then we type in the words the game gives us.  

How to measure the area.

LI: To calculate the area of shapes using multiplication and addition. This week we are measureing the area of shapes. Here is how we measured our shape by using our time tables. I used my 6 time tables and my 4 on this DLO. Here is how i mesured my sqaue step by step.

Procedural

This week for inquiry we are doing procedural writing. Procedural writing Is explaining how to do something step by step of an example pour the flour into the bowl. Next tip the eggs into the batter. In the procedrual writing there is T.E.M.P.S the purpose,Language.

Bridges

This week for inquiry we recerched international bridges all around the world. Here are so bridges i reserched Balclutha Bridge, Auckland harbour bridge,Te Rewa Rewa bridge,Panmure bridge,Victoria bridge,Gladesville bridge,Anzac bridge,Weat street.

Maui

LI: To identify the purpose of a narrative. This week for reading we are learning about maui stories. We first read one of a story. the story i did was maui and the sun i described on the DLO. We had to write lessons maui tech people and what he tech. Maui's story is a myth. A myth is facts people made up and also can be true.

Swimming/Kiwi Sport

Today for kiwi sport we did swimming. Before we got to our class we talked about our safety water when we are in danger. James told us some stories and instructions we need to follow. Then after he told us stories and dangers we should not do we got straight into our class and did our lessons for the past 3 weeks. We started with our scaling. Our fingers have to be together and our thumbs has to be a part from our fingers. Then you have to swing your arms back and forward and the thumbs has to go up and down fast. And what your body has to do is your on your back and you have to look straight up and also push your belly up so if the water is deep you can stay up. if you want to get up you look to your feet and then you start going down slowly.

LI: To write a quick narrative. This week for writing we wrote a quick narrative. We got to pick 4  photos based on our narrative. The photo I picked was the little girl falling into the water. I thought of using Brainstorming.Planning.Draft.Edit.Publish. I also thought of using dialogue in my narritive. dialogue is when you are talking to a differnt person.

How to measure the area of a square

 This week we are learning how to measure the area using the cm side on a ruler. I made a DLO showing how you should measure a square using a cm side ruler. I did 3cm on the side and 8cm at the bottom for an example then you use your 3 times tabels to the answer 24.

Swimming

Today for kiwi sport year 5 LS1 went to YMCA to learn a lesson in the water. We first learnt about hypothermia. Hypothermia is cold the signs are when lips turn blue/purple,teeth start chattering,walking funny,talking funny. In our group we first remembered our safe entry then after that we did the safe entry is floating on our back so if the area is deep you can float on your back to get to safety. then after our floating on our back we did back floating using noodle an our board. we used a noodle we kick to the other plateforms. Then we did Sculling when you put your hands in frount of you and then swing your arms in and out your thumbs are up and then go down. then we had to hold our breath underwater for 20 secounds.

This Vs That | Bridge


L.I To do research on bridges.
This week for inquiry we had to do a This Vs That D.L.O. I worked with Florence for this weeks inquiry. The activity was based on the panmure bridge. We had to do 3 This Vs That activitys. The first one was to do research on the panmure bridge and the auckland harbour bridge. The second one was to do research of another bridge in NZ. Florence and I chose the Balclutha Road bridge because it's design got our attention. The third This Vs That was to find a bridge in a different country. We chose the Golden Gate Bridge. We found out that the bridge was from the united states of America. On the This Vs That D.L.O you had to say whent he bridges were built, The length,Span,Height and width of the bridge,Cost of the bridge,materials that the bridge was made of and the type of bridge that the bridge is. I really enjoyed completeing this activity because I can use my smart searching skills to find out information about things

Tengu

 This week we are learning about tengu. this story is about a long nosed goblin who defends the forsest it is also a folklord story and a myth. I used 3 stories to tell what tengu is and what he is like and what lesson he teach. I made a DLO on what he is about and what he teach.

Media

 This week we are still learning about media. Media is construction there is 3 purpose 1 is using techknowledge 2 is comucating and 3 is kawa of care. We had to take a photo suitable for our school/blog and friends and family. Then we have to make a word cloud describing that photo but first we make a list descibing.

Kiwi can


Today for kiwi our topic was goalsetting and our theam was resilliance. We played a game snatch is when we had to get into a big circle and Mr Latu gave us a rope. when we got the rope we put the rope on the ground. The rules were mr matt put a song on and we have to dance to it going clock-wise. When the song pause we have to get into the middel and get the cone in the middel if you dont have a cone then you can go outside and watch the game till the end. Then after that game we played octapus is when someone is in the middel in a hula-hoop and with noodles. the goal is to get to the other side you cant run to the other side you get to crawl our walk depend on what Miss Lili says. We had a few rounds of that game and then we did JKQ is when we had to get into 4 lines and the first person of each line has to stand up and ansrew a question the buzzer was to turn around touch the ground and say there name.

Swimming

LI: To be safe in the water. First we started doing stair entry witch was when you have to get into the pool by using the ladder to get in we have to get in backwards so if its deep you can pull yourself back up. The next skill we did was slide entry is when you have to put both hands on one side and slide into the pool with your hands still on the wall. Then after that, was us using a board to do this skill called float board, is when you have a board and you look down kicking in the water with out makeing splashes. Then last we did float bord switching is when you swim looking down and then switch on your back.

Kiwi can

Today for kiwi can our topic was goalsettings and our theam was resilence. We played our energizer called tag snatch so we had to get a tag off mr mat and put it in our pocket but some has to hand out for the people that can snatch the tag. There were to people left who was me and alizai. And the activaty was ball trouble we had to get into partners that are another gender mine was leroy. We had a ball mr matt tells us where to put the ball and were not aloud to use our hands.
